Clearly the world, footwear and fashions have changed immensely since family run business T Groocock & Co (Rothwell) Ltd was founded in 1914. Its origins lie in the manufacture of footwear in the UK and worldwide - a role requiring a very broad and detailed understanding of footwear design, manufacture and component resourcing.
Such extensive shoe making experience provided an invaluable base when T Groocock launched its own brand Padders, which now forms their core business.
Padders' reputation is based on nearly 100 years experience of quality shoemaking, coupled with a forward thinking strategy and considerable investment in technology and innovation.

The Padders brand was developed as a recession beater really. The factory in Northamptonshire could no longer compete with Italy and Portugal making cheaper more accessible shoes because of the higher cost of labour in the U.K. The answer? start a brand! Make great wide and extra wide fit comfort shoes instead of trying to compete with cheaper imports, Padders was born and became successful. The shoe trade is littered with great British shoe factories who simply sat back and let imports kill them, the Groocock family were not going to let that happen and they saved their factory and a many of jobs at the same time!
Well, with nearly 100 years of manufacturing experience behind them the factory is selling Men’s and Ladies Padders, not just comfort shoes but slippers and wellingtons as well!
Padders have spent a lot of money, effort and time researching in to the best way to bring lightweight, comfortable wide fitting shoes to the market and have been very successful. They developed the dual fit system with a removable insole and foot bed for wide fit styles so that they will suit all kinds of feet in different width fittings while at the same time making room for any inner soles that the wearer may have to wear if they have problem feet!
Padders Shoes are really the last word in comfortable wide and extra wide footwear as they have extra toe depth allowing the toes to ‘breath’ within the shoe which aids natural wicking of moisture away from the foot ensuring that you get the most comfortable wear from your shoes. The shoes have foam padding which gives protection in all the key areas. All Padders footwear is made from high quality leather that ensures durability, the best material for allowing the feet nautural comfort in all conditions.
